California DUI Checkpoints This Week

Drivers in California, take heed! Police will be holding DUI checkpoints in multiple cities throughout the state over the weekend. If you need another reason NOT to drink and drive, check out this roundup.

We will do our best to update this post as we become aware of more DUI checkpoint announcements across California.

6/13/24 Update

San Mateo

The San Mateo Police Department will be manning a DUI checkpoint from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. by Norfolk Street and Los Prados Street, aiming to curb impaired driving.

Stanislaus County

he Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office announced it will be conducting a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint on Friday.

Officials said the checkpoint will be located “somewhere within the county” at an undisclosed time.

“The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office is prepared to stop and arrest any drunk driver they see to keep roads and community safe,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “Deputies have received specialized training for driving under the influence (DUI), as well as driving under the influence of drugs (DUID), which will help them identify and remove persons under the influence from our roadways.”

Elk Grove

The checkpoint will be at an undisclosed location within city limits on 6/14 from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

Apple Valley

Pasadena 

Beginning on Friday, June 14, the Pasadena Police Department is to manage a driving under the influence (DUI) and driver’s license checkpoint within Pasadena city limits at an undisclosed location.

Showing incidents of impaired driving crashes, the DUI/driver’s license checkpoints will focus the locations based on available data and will promote public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the road.

“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk. Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety and can save lives,” According to police spokesperson.

Laguna Beach

The Laguna Beach Police Department will put on a driving under the influence (DUI) checkpoint this Friday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location.

Those charged with a first-time DUI face strict penalties, as well as a suspended license.

 

 6/6/24 Update
 

San Diego 

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department wants to remind drivers to avoid operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The Santee Sheriff’s Station has announced plans for a DUI checkpoint from 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. this Saturday, June 8. The exact location within the City of Santee remains undisclosed, strategically chosen based on areas with higher incidents of impaired drivers. The primary goal of these checkpoints is to enhance public safety by identifying and removing potentially impaired drivers from the roads. 

Santa Barbra 

The Santa Barbara Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Saturday, June 8, 2024, within the city limits. Checkpoint locations are selected based on data indicating frequent impaired driving-related crashes. The main aim is to promote public safety by removing suspected impaired drivers from the streets. 

Menifee 

The Menifee Police Department will set up a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint on June 8, 2024, from 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The specific location within Menifee city limits will not be disclosed. 

Palm Springs 

The Palm Springs Police Department will conduct a DUI checkpoint on Friday evening at an undisclosed location within the city. The checkpoint will run from 7:00 p.m. on Friday until 1:00 a.m., in a location selected based on data patterns of impaired driving-related crashes. 

Woodland 

The California Highway Patrol Woodland Area division announced a DUI checkpoint for Friday night, June 7, 2024. According to a press release, the checkpoint will be conducted from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on westbound State Route 16, east of County Road 97, approximately 2.7 miles west of Woodland.
